Thomas R. Rakowski has returned to private practice following a distinguished twenty-three year judicial career. While a Circuit Court Judge and later an Appellate Court Justice, he conducted countless trials, both bench and jury, and authored, concurred, specially concurred and dissented in hundreds of opinions and orders involving virtually all areas of law.

In addition to his regular judicial responsibilities, Judge Rakowski served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the First District Appellate Court, Chairman of the Illinois Appellate Court and member of the Supreme Court Committee on Judicial Education. He was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court as First District Representative to the five member panel, hearing all Illinois Workers’ Compensation appeals. Judge Rakowski was selected by the Statewide Appellate Court justices to serve on the Illinois Courts’ Commission which adjudicates complaints alleging misconduct against Illinois judges.

In addition, Judge Rakowski’s prior responsibilities and experience give him a unique perspective to better serve Connelly Roberts & McGivney clients. His practice includes a wide variety of areas including litigation, appeals and alternative dispute resolution.
